I’ve decided I want to be a professional Duck Duck Goose player…
Let’s face it, there are lots of really stupid sports in the world. In many of these “sports”, the participants call themselves “athletes”, even there is little or no athleticism involved.
You can now earn a college scholarship for being an “e-athlete”, playing video games. I was recently watching a competition of lumberjackers (Is that a word?) who were competing to see how fast they could cut a log with a chainsaw. Let’s not forget the hot dog eating “athletes” who compete in food competitions.
I played baseball when I was a kid and I did track. I rode skateboards and competed in BMX and mountain bike events. Those were sports. When I see fishing competitions on “sports” channels, I wonder what really defines a sport. I’m not saying these things are not fun, or they aren’t worthy ways of spending time, but they are far being a “sport.”
How about playing pool? That’s called a sport. So is darts. The World Series of Poker and competing in Pokemon tournaments are “sports.” Spelling Bees are considered a “sport” now too. There’s even professional marble playing “athletes.”
Then, there’s soccer… I’ve been to one pro soccer game in my life and it was the most God awful boring time of my life. Oh wait, I guess some people really think that’s a sport. Anyway, soccer aside, I think you see my point. There are some really stupid things that people do where they really think they’re worthy of being called professional “athletes” competing in a “sport.”
So why not a professional Duck Duck Goose player???
If you’re not familiar with the game Duck Duck Goose, you should be. Google it…
Note: What’s really fun about my blog is I may have just introduced Duck Duck Goose to someone in a random world location who has never played before. How fun is that? And you thought this blog was pointless…HA!
Getting back on track, I researched and found there is no professional Duck Duck Goose league. I know now what I must do. I must commit my life to getting it introduced as an Olympic sport to gain credibility so I can start my league. Or maybe I should start my league, then seek Olympic status (So many choices!) Either way, I can then dominate the “sport” as the Duck Duck Goose champion I know I am.
When I was a kid, Duck Duck Goose was right up there in popularity with dodge ball and kick ball, both of which still have quite the following now. I know I can elevate Duck Duck Goose to the professional status it deserves, but I need your support.
Will you help?

End Note: I also considered professional musical chairs, but that’s already been done.
