Halloween: How Soon Is Too Soon?

It’s not uncommon for Christmas lights to be up in November, but when is it okay to put up the Halloween decorations?

In my neighborhood, we had people starting to put up Halloween decorations in the last week of August. I’m not talking about a pumpkin or a scarecrow. I’m referring to full on inflatables, lights, yard cemeteries, skeletons, and everything else you can think of.

I know all the holidays seem to blur together now, and in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, but really, how soon is too soon?

I’m not complaining. I truly like the quirkiness of it all, but there no longer seems to be any social norms in place regarding holiday decor. For my long time readers, you might recall I posted a while back about when Christmas stuff should be taken down because we were into February and March with some who didn’t take stuff down.

As much as I like it, it just seems a little odd.

Now, we run the probability (not possibility) that houses will have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decorations up at the same time. Seems a bit confusing, but I guess the skeletons could wear Santa hats, right?

This is where creativity comes into play. There could probably be some pretty neat yard displays if done right!

Is my life so empty that I have nothing better to do than ponder things like this? Maybe. But I’m sure I’m not the only one curious about it.

What do you think?

I’m really trying hard to post more, but I’m easily distracted by squirrels, shiny things, and life in general. Still, I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d like, follow, and share!

Maybe people should just pick a favorite holiday and decorate for it all year long.

Works for me! I choose National Pizza Day.

Put the decorations up when you want and take them down when you want. To hell with societal norms! 🤣

To each his own, but around our parts people do wait until after Labor Day to turn on the Halloween charm. My problem is that retail locations start pushing Christmas upon us at the same time, and it just isn’t fair to Halloween. I love Christmas even more than Halloween, but Halloween deserves its day in the sun…um…more like its night in the moon. Keep Christmas outta my Halloween!

I guess we could always dress up as Santa for Halloween!
