I often feel old, but when I see memes like these I definitely feel like a dinosaur! Unfortunately, these references about Generation X are quite true.

This image truly reflects the comment, “If You Know, You Know.” The rules were simple. Destroy the other players. Especially the ones that wore glasses or had something weird about them (yes, I got hit often). That’s just how it was. It made us tougher, aside from the feeling of being the last one picked for the team.

Many of the things we did as kids would never be tolerated or attempted today. We were crafty and could build ramps out of anything. Landing after launching off them? Well, that’s a different story. Blood squirting out of an artery or bones sticking out? Meh. Walk it off. How we survived in a time of no helmets and a severe lack of common sense will never be known, but it sure was fun!

Ah yes, sarcasm. It was everywhere, and it was the norm. Luckily, this is one carry over to my adult life that I did not leave behind thanks to these guys. We were (and are) blunt and we lacked a filter (still don’t have one), but we were honest. Those outside of Generation X don’t always understand (or appreciate) our humor, though most of it was (and is) in good fun.

How we were not abducted by Sasquatch, lost in abandoned wells, or found by evil clowns in the sewers will never be known. Navy SEALS today wouldn’t dare try half the adventures we did as kids. I often wonder how anyone would have found us if we disappeared. More than likely, they wouldn’t have found us because we didn’t even know where we were.

And yet, we survived…
