When I’m on the road, I like to find out where the locals like eating. If you’re looking for a pizza place that’s a go-to for locals in Sedalia, Volker’s is definitely the spot. One visit is all it will take to understand why so many people keep coming back for another slice.
Volker’s is the kind of place that’s easy to settle into. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food comes out hot and fresh, and it seems to be a great spot to kick back with family or friends after a long day.
What makes Volker’s stand out is it’s the kind of place where everyone can find something they like. If someone dare say they want something other than pizza, Volker’s has a full menu of other options for young and old. It’s a relaxed spot to grab dinner with family, meet up with friends, or catch a game while enjoying a great meal. The menu has a nice mix of familiar favorites and creative combinations, so every trip can be a little different.
As for me, I needed some pizza…
While they have a variety of food, I visited for what they call their “Pub Craft” pizza. This pizza was very filling. The “Really Grate 4-Cheese” pizza enticed me, and I was surprised at how thick it was. I was expecting a thin tavern style pizza, but I wasn’t complaining with what I got.
It’s not uncommon for me to devour a pizza and still be hungry, so it was nice to find a heavy slice that actually had some substance to it. I could only eat a few slices before I was full (which says a lot).
Since I was out on a road trip, I had to share some crust with my dog. If you don’t trust my opinion, you can trust his – he said he liked it. Since it was so filling, I had leftovers for later, which is rare. Even reheated, the slices were still good, and just as filling as the first round.
Whether you’re a Sedalia local or just passing through, Volker’s Eatery + Pub is a pizza stop that’s worth adding to your list. Volker’s is located at 1021 S. Limit Drive (US-65), so it’s easy to get to if you’re rolling down the highway. Stop in, grab a slice, and see for yourself why Volker’s has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
